Enabling Development Mode

This manual explains how to enable Development Mode to restrict access to a test website and prevent search engines from indexing it.

1) Access the Development Mode Settings

1.1. Log in to the admin area of your website.

1.2. Go to Settings → Configuration → My Store.

1.3. Locate the Development Mode option in the list.

1.4. Click the Edit button.

2) Enable Development Mode

2.1. Select the True radio button to enable the feature.

2.2. Click Update to save the changes.

3) Set Authentication Credentials

3.1. Find the Development mode - authentication username option and click Edit.

3.2. Enter the username to be used for restricted access.

3.3. Click Update.

3.4. Repeat the same steps for Development mode - authentication password to set a secure password.

4) Result

When customers (or any visitors) try to access the front end of the website, they will be prompted to sign in.

Only users who enter the correct username and password will be able to view the store.
