OsCommerce version 4.x installation via Let me install myself option for multiple sales channels

When you install osCommerce 4.x on the osCommerce server, you receive a 30-day free trial to test the platform.

After the trial, you can:

  • Continue with osCommerce hosting at an affordable price, or
  • Move your website to another hosting provider.

1) Starting the Installation

1. Navigate to https://www.oscommerce.com/.

2. Click on Try with osCommerce host.

3. Log in to your osCommerce account, or create one if needed.

4. Fill in the required fields and click Check subdomain availability.

5. Select Let me install myself.

6. Click Submit request.

You will see a success page instructing you to wait for the confirmation email.

2) Welcome Email

The welcome email includes:

  • A Continue installation link.
  • FTP access details.
  • Database access details.

Click on the Continue installation link to proceed.

3) Installation Steps

1. License Agreement

  • Click Accept and Start Installation.

2. Pre-installation Check

  • Click Proceed.

3. Database Access

  • Enter the database access details.
  • Click Install Database.

4. Settings

  • Fill in the required fields.
  • Choose the number of sales channels:
    • Multiple (default).
    • Single.
  • Click Update Database.

5. Administrator Account

  • Fill in the required fields.
  • Click Create Access.
  • You will receive an email with:
    • The administrator area link.
    • Your login details.

At this stage, you can click either:

  • To visit admin area click here → log in to the admin area.
  • Complete Installation → see the osCommerce splash page with further information.

4) Post-Installation Actions

1. In the Dashboard tab, a warning appears asking you to remove the installation directory for security reasons.

2. Using the provided FTP access:

  • Connect to the server with your FTP client.
  • Navigate to the public_html folder.
  • Remove the install directory.

3. Refresh the Dashboard page to ensure the warning disappears.

5) Verifying Sales Channels and Themes

1. Go to the Sales channels tab → verify that all four sales channels are installed.

2. Go to Design and CMSThemes tab → verify that all four themes are installed.

The installation is complete. You can now begin configuring your website further.
