This manual explains how to install osCommerce 4.x on your own server with a single active sales channel and configure the initial settings.

1) Selecting the Sales Channel

1. Start the installation process of osCommerce 4.x.

2. At the fourth step (Settings):

  • Select the required sales channel from the drop-down list.
  • Fill in the required fields.
  • Click on the Update Database button.

3. In this example, we choose the single sales channel and the theme Furniture.

2) Creating the Administrator Account

1. At the fifth step (Administrator Account):

  • Fill in the required fields.
  • Click on the Create Access button.

2. An email will be sent to the specified address containing:

  • A link to the administrator area.
  • Login details for access.

3) Completing the Installation

1. You can:

  • Click on the To visit admin area click here link.
  • Or click on the Complete Installation button.

2. After completion, the chosen sales channel with the Furniture theme will be displayed.

4) First Login and Security Step

1. Log in to the admin area of your website.

2. Open the Dashboard tab.

3. You will see a warning asking you to remove the Installation directory for security reasons.

4. Delete the installation directory from your server.

5. Refresh the page to ensure the warning no longer appears.

5) Confirming Sales Channel Activation

  1. Click on the Sales Channels tab.
  2. Verify that the chosen single sales channel has been activated.
  3. The other sales channels remain inactive but can be used for reference in the future if needed.

6) Confirming Theme Installation

  1. Click on the Design and CMS → Themes tab.
  2. Confirm that the Furniture theme has been installed.
  3. Other themes are also installed and available for reference in the future.

You can now begin configuring your website further according to your business needs.
